I am a faculty/mentor and Academic Area Coordinator of Digital Media for the Center for Distance Learning, and a core faculty in the Master of Arts of Learning and Emerging Technologies program (MALET) in the School for Graduate Studies at SUNY Empire State College. I teach graduate courses in virtual worlds environments, and supervise master’s theses projects with an immersive learning focus. I also facilitate immersive meetings for students and faculty in the MALET program. This website/blog curates some of my research, artifacts and resources related to immersive virtual worlds learning, theory, research and design.
A note about Ragitake: though I explored virtual worlds with other avatars as early as 2000, my avatar Ragitake Takakura has been a resident of Second Life since May 2006, active in research, education, learning design, and community analysis. A number of the resources highlighted on this site are relate to my work within the Ragitake embodiment, including a research period from 2007-2009 in the Isle of Wyrms Second Life dragon community.
